Spots & Moulds
What is the best product for moss in my lawns and algae on my terracotta pots? Surrender Mosskiller from Yates is ideal for these jobs. It will control moss, lichen and algae in lawns, cobblestones and other hard surfaces, including the terracotta pots. It will not stain concrete or leave any black residues.
My roses are covered in dark spots, and lots of the leaves have gone yellow and dropped off. This sounds like Black Spot. It is a fungal disease, which is often worse in wet weather. Spray with Yates Fungus Fighter from when the new leaves start opening up.
The fruit on my lemon tree are covered in wart like lumps and bumps. They are so ugly, we don’t know if they’re safe to eat. They are perfectly ok to eat, and the lumps won’t make them taste any different. These ‘lumps’ are verrucosis, which can also cause damage to the leaves in the same way. Spraying with Copper oxychloride will help to sort this out.
The fruit and some leaves on my grapes are all mouldy and rotting. This is Botrytis or grey mould. It is a fungal disease that frequently occurs during warm, wet and humid weather. It is also associated with lack of air movement and overcrowding. Thinning out the leaves and trimming to enable improved airflow around and through the plant. Spray with Greenguard at 14-21 day intervals.
