I have been given a badly frost bitten young avocado tree, I have it in a sheltered sunny spot and am currently using a frost sheet over it at night to protect from further damage, what can I do to help this plant recover. I’m very new to vegetable/fruit gardening, thanks

Once Spring is well and truly underway and the threat of frost has passed then prune the tree back to unaffected wood. If the tree has dropped its leaves (which is common) keep the tree protected from sunburn this year until the leaves have grown back. You will find it is unlikely to fruit for the next two years but as long as it is in a sheltered frost protected area now it should come away again.
