I have a carter naval which I have planted in a large pot. Something has been eating the leaves and a lot have been falling off. Its been in the pot for a year now and just doesn’t seem to be growing well at all.

There are a couple of pests which could be affecting your Orange tree. Aphids, usually clusters of black or green insects on young leaves could be eating your leaves. Spray with Neem Tree Oil, or Yates White oil insecticide to control. Also sprays of Sunlight yellow bar soap lathered up in warm water. It is also a good idea to be applying a citrus fertilser in spring. And make sure it has adequate moisture over dry periods. Mulching around the base of the tree will help. Also take a good close look at the tree for other signs of pests such as mealy bug and scale, if not sure take a sample into your local Palmers Garden Centre and they will give you additional advice.
