Hi, I bought a double grafted plum from you and have a strange situation. The main plant is growing well having flowered and now has a few fruit on it which is good for its first season, however the graft is still dormant and shows no sign of wanting to bud etc. It looks dead but after clipping the tip, I found it still very green and well and truly alive, it just has forgotten spring I think. Is there a way to force the graft to come out of dormancy or will it grow next year which is a shame as I would have lost a whole year of this tree developing. I no longer have the receipt so a exchange is not an option. Thanks

Hi Barry

Thanks for your question. You may find that with such a young tree it is putting all of its energy into settling down and a little snip of the graft may have been all that is needed to remind it that it is to get busy next year. Please let us know if next year your graft has still not taken.

Enjoy your first fruits this year!
