I have some potatoes that have sprouted in the cupboard and are past being used for food. If I was to plant them would they flower and the potatoe that may grow mature. I realise that at this time of year maybe not a lot of potatoe but maybe some?? If you think it a waste of time that will be OK.

Have a read of our How To Guide on Growing Seed Potatoes. As you have said, the time of year isn’t really best – but it depends where in NZ you are located. If you are in the cooler parts of the country, they are unlikely to grow very much and more than likely to succumb to the wet of winter and any frosts that may strike. If you are like me and dislike waste especially of food, give it a try – nothing ventured, nothing gained.
