I have cleared a large area on a bank that had had agapanthus and wild grasses on it. I have bought lupin seed, (as a mulch) hoping to increase the fertility of the soil. Is this a good idea? The lupin seed seems to say it is mainly for vegetable gardens.

Lupin seed is used mainly for edible crops. I would recommend you add lots of organic matter in layers to the bank and lots of compost to condition the soil. Adding compost to the area will help your soil and ultimately the plants you end up putting in there will grow bigger and better. The organic matter in compost helps soil hold on to nutrients and water, benefiting your plants.
