I planted 2 lots of silverbeet seedlings that looked really healthy, bought from different places, fairly close to each other (about 12 inches apart). After 2 weeks the leaves of one of plots turned spotted overnight – not just circular spots but irregular blotches as well, and the plants looked as if they would die. This happened to the whole plot overnight! the other plot looked healthy – but the whole thing happened to them a few days later. Is this mosaic virus or what?

Hi Carol, mosaic virus doesn’t effect Silverbeet. It most likely is a fungal disease, that would spread with moisture. An organic copper spray at planting does always help and try to prevent too much water. Feel free to take a leaf of photo of your plant in store and our team can take a closer look at it. Thanks, the Palmers team
