Our builder’s sown the lawns with Rye grass and Clover mix about a week ago. The growth is quite patchy and we were thinking of sowing the patchy spots with a mix of Rye grass, Fescue and Brown top seeds for a better quality lawn. Would this be ok (i.e having a mix of lawn grass types)? We’d also like to add lawn fertiliser, but aren’t sure of when to do this? Is it usually done after the first mowing?

I would stick to the lawn seed you originally put down other wise you will have a more patchy result from the varying types of seed, colour, texture etc. Yates Dynamic Lifter Turf Starter is the fertiliser you use. A pelletised Dynamic Lifter with Waterwise water storage cystals, specifically formulated for aiding rapid establishment of new turf. Keep well watered.
