I planted a pot of crocus that flowered beautifully this year. What do I do with them now they have finished flowering to ensure they flower as well next year? I live in Northland and do get a few frosts

For best results in pots buy fresh new bulbs each year, saving last years divisions for the garden. Or If you want to keep the bulbs for next year, put the pot away out of sight and allow the leaves to die back naturally. Dig the bulbs up in summer when they have dried off completely. Store them in a cool, airy place until replanting the following autumn. If you treat your bulbs as annuals you can clear the pot out for other uses right after flowering, and start again with a whole new selection of bulbs next autumn.
