I have a Daphne which is looking very well and flower beautifully. It put on a fair bit of growth in its first year and some of the branches are a bit long and leggy. Can it be pruned? When should it be pruned? How much is it safe to cut back by.

A light tip prune from time to time is helpful – picking the flowers in winter achieves this. Dress lightly with an acid fertiliser during spring.
