I have a Tahitian lime and a Meyer lemon which are suffering badly from a heavy infestation of scale. These trees are large and apart from the scale are very healthy. I feed them regularly with citrus food, sheep pellets and general garden fertilizer in rotation. I have difficulty spraying them amd find it impossible to get the underside of all the leaves adequately covered due to their size. I have also given them neem tree granules which I was told would ‘do the trick.’ Is there a systemic spray which would help or anything else you could suggest – I’m desperate! Many thanks.

Hi Marion, I am sorry but there is no Systemic spray I could recommend on edible plants, just not safe. Note that if you have sprayed with Enspray oil (or any oil) the scale might have died but it does take ages to fall off (to test this you can “scratch” the scale if it is flakey the scale is dead) Really Enspray is they only way, try using a pressure spraying and set this up with as finer mist as possible.

Thanks the Palmers Team
