A number of my brassicas have quite large areas of exploded growth of the inner leaf cells which appear spongy. There are no visible caterpillars. The leaf surface over these areas is a thin white membrane. It appears to originate near veins.

You may like to lay down some pet and child friendly Quash to sort out any slugs and snails that may be getting to your brassicas. Yates Derris dust is a good all purpose way to control a number of pests, although you can’t see them. Lightly dust plants directly from shaker at first sign of insects. Choose a still morning, preferably when dew is on the foliage. Repeat every 7-10 days, or following rain. Also bring a sample down to your local Palmers Garden Centre.
