We have a glasshouse which we just put up in November so this is our first winter. Can we plant potatoes for winter and what else would you recommend to plant during the winter. Also we have planted onion and beetroot seedlings and they are coming through really well on our windowsill, can they be planted in the glasshouse.

They can be planted in winter in warm mild districts, generally late winter/spring they need warmth to germinate and no frosts so it it possible to grow potatoes for winter in the glasshouse. Potatoes hate wet feet, so good drainage is essential. Cultivate the soil to fork depth (about 20cm) with plenty of compost and well rotted organic material. Broad Beans, Broccoli, Brussell Sprouts, Cauliflower, Celery, Garlic, Parsley, Silverbeet, Spinach, Spring Onion and Winter Lettuce can all be planted now for winter. Yes you can put your onion and beetroot seedlings in the glasshouse they will do really well
