Hi there,

We have recently got ourselves an olive tree. Do you have any advice or tips on how to best grow and olive tree?

Also, are there any sprays for protection we need to use or specific fertilisers needed?

I have read a few articles that suggest a slow releasing fertiliser. I have also read about there being a few pests and viruses to be aware of and how to treat if the tree gets one. However I am just wondering if there would be something to use to protect it from catching any of these.

Thanks.

Kind regards.

Aaron.

Hi there, bought Mandarin plant this year in July. Recently i noticed that new leaves r appearing from the mandarin plant, but they are different. After a thorough research on net, i came to know that another citrus plant known as Trifoliate orange is this one. I guess this plant was used for grafting the mandarin. My question is this; should i let it grow along with Mandarin or trim it. I know two or three citrus family plants can grow together from main plant. In my case , main plant is Mandarin.
Wish i could attach the pic here.
Tnx

It seems apples don’t tastes as good as they used to back in “olden” days. Is there a good applesauce apple around these days other than
Granny Smith?

I bought an apple tree about 4 months ago and planted it in a sheltered spot in our back garden. This week I have noticed that it is blossoming. Surely this is the wrong time of year for that. It is a Braeburn. Do you have any thoughts?

Hi there,
I have a ballerina columnar apple tree that is around 3 years old. It is very strong and healthy looking but only had 2 blossoms last year and unfortunately the wind broke the small forming apples off the tree some weeks later. It is disease free and I put compost and mulch on the area seasonally so would have thought it would have enough nutrients. What can I do to ensure it produces more blossoms/fruit?

I have a large, dead branch on an Apple tree that I want to remove. Do I need to apply a ‘sealer’ of any kind, and, if so, what?

Hi, my apple tree (Ballarina dwarf) has very curled up leaves. I don’t think there are any bugs inside them, they form curled up. Should I use insecticide or fungus spray- what would you recommend? Thanks

Can you please tell me why our Braeburn apple tree is dropping apples now, they are very small still? We are in Taupo region and I am watering it daily. We have recently sprayed it for black spot and give it neem granules.

Thanks so much

We have a lifestyle block in Northland. One problem is possums and I can understand this on the normal fruit trees.
But our Citrus trees are being totally eaten and I can only assume it is also the possums. Leaves appear to be being nibbled down to the branch and also actual lemons are being stripped of skin and approx quarter of whole lemons eaten.
Do you think this is possums. We are trapping but can you think of any help to keep them of the citrus

I have got passionfruit vines and was wondering if catmint and lavender would attract the bees as they are needed to pollinate the passionfruit. Could you suggest anything else that I could grow now that would attract the bees and grows fast?
