Hi there,

I have a number of Feijoa plants that have developed some brown spots on the leaves. How do I get rid of them? Can I spray something on them, or should I cut them off?

Love your work.

Thanks
Tracey

I’m interested in growing an avocado tree in a small corner of my yard. Is there a specific type of tree I should buy as I don’t want a huge tree. Is there a dwarf, or semi dwarf variety available or can I prune an ordinary one to suit, without compromising the fruit growth?

Hi
I am very much a amateur gardener, and was hoping you could give me some advice.
I was given a golden queen peach tree last year at the end of sept which soon after I planted developed leaf curl. I didn’t realise this at the time and did nothing about it. Hence it has come back again this year. From what I have read on the back of fungicide treatments/internet search, I have missed the appropriate time to treat the tree for this fruiting.
Can you PLEASE recommend when exactly I should treat now, what you recommend treating with, if I should still be adding fertiliser to the soil despite this, and also if I should be picking off all the early fruit buds for the first few years (someone said I should be doing this) and I havn’t done this-however as it was diseased last year only 1 fruit made it to full ripening, and it looks as though only 1-2 remain this year
I would greatly appreciate your knowledge here so I can have a healthy tree which many fruit for many years to come!! Thanks.

I have a Chilli seedling & a Tamarillo seeding that I have grown from seed. I want to plant them into indoor pots because we are coming into winter, and also I will want the plants to move with me. Can you grow Tamarillo trees in pots? What size? What size pot is enough for a Chilli plant? What soil will be good for the pots? Potting Mix/Tomato Mix/Vege Mix etc..?

Hi, I am wanting to grow a Mango tree. I live in Hamilton and have been advised by all the major garden centres here including Palmers, that they do not do well in New Zealand. However I have heard of some people in northland being able to grow them. I have read that a Mango tree needs to be grafted in order to produce decent fruit. would Palmers be able to order in an already-grafted Mango tree. I could collect it from the Hamilton branch. If so, my thoughts would be to container grow it under cover to keep it warm, and frost protect it.

Thanks

I have a blueberry growing in a pot. Good fruiting this first year. The plant has produced several quite long, new growth stems. Do I allow these to continue growing or should I prune them, and if so when and by how much? Also when and with what should I feed it? I have heard that blueberries like pine needles around their base – is there any substance to this story?

I bought an Omega plum tree from you about 3 years ago and after the first year, it has not done anything, not even a leaf. At the time I didn’t think it needed a pollinator because my neighbours have one but I don’t think this is the problem with my tree. I have feed it with stone fruit slow-release fertiliser but nothing…What can I do? It looks like its dead!
