Hi

Can you please recommend a fast growing climbing vine with white flowers that will grow up trellis on large concrete retaining walls.

We live in Wellington and the area gets alot of sun in summer but will also get wind in winter.

I was thinking of maybe the Mandevilla but am getting confused with the different varieties, you may also know of a better option.

I am also hoping to put the same plant in a large pot next to the front door.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks

Vanessa

I am looking for a climbing plant with attractive evergreen foliage, pink or purple flowers in summer, able to grow on a shady South facing wall, and withstand strong winds from the south sometimes. Its a frost-free area.

We have a beachfront, east facing property. We have had a number of Nadina in the front of our section. Over this past winter the storms coming in off the sea have thrashed them to shreds. What should we replace them with that will grow to no more then a meter, survive the storms, survive the salt spray, look good?

I am planting a new garden at the beach. What would you recommend as some of your top costal plants? Would Griselinia as hedging tolarate costal conditions? and also flaxes, in particular Phormium Dark Delight tolarate the salt? and would Yuka’s survive beach conditions? I like cordylines but have a height restriction so perhaps Yuka’s may be better?

I have a slightly bare section. around the edge of the section we have some big casserena trees planted about 2-3m apart. it is very dry in the summer, and very wet in the winter cause we are in a valley and dont have the best drainage. my question is- what would be some colourful hardy plants of any sort that might take a hold of these harsh conditions and grow well???

Hello, I live in New Plymouth and have a ‘wet’ but not boggy flat section, I want to plant 4 trees along the front fence, that will look great all year, let sunlight in, in winter and dappled shade in summer & not grow over 3mtrs … I may want to underplant these trees with lavender or ericas (or similar) for easy care.. do you have any suggestions of tree & matched underplanting .. thanks Lee

Hi there,
May I ask if I can plant Ficus on my concrete water tank, it’s my water supply and don’t want any roots finding the hairline cracks, causing damage etc.
Any suggestions for anything that will not damage tanks?
Thanks

Can you please tell me how to best care for balcony potted corokia shrubs.
When to trim and how often ? Also when to feed and with what ? Also what should I spray them with for to prevent disease & black fungus ?
Thanks for your help.

I have a terrace bed supported by an ugly concrete wall. I am looking for a plant to crawl across the concrete edge and trail down the wall a bit. The plant needs to have attractive evergreen foliage, able to withstand very strong southerly winds sometimes. The terrace bed gets a lot of sun, so the plant base will get full sun, but any leaves that trail down the wall will be in a south-facing shady area. The bed is irrigated. The main problem is very strong wind sometimes.

I am currently putting in a new garden. I live in Wellington in the northern suburbs and we do get some strong winds. We are currently working on improving the soil as we go as it is mostly clay. We would like to put it a larger tree (deciduous) that would provide some green to the garden in summer and some shade and shelter. It would be in a position that would get a good amount of sun. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi,

I am looking for a Decorative Garden Windmill for a garden at home. Was hoping that Palmer’s had them available?

If Palmer’s have them. What is the brand and any pics / dimensions etc would be great.

Do you have Purple or Pink Delosperma Cooperi Ice Plants in stock, and if so how much are they.
If not, when could you have them in by?

Is dethatching just a hard rake or done by some other means?

We have lots of small toadstools which pop up each day in our reasonably new lawn. Is there some product to combat them? I have been pulling them out but not all come out with their roots intact. (Pity they aren’t mushrooms!!)

Is is necessary to ease up in the winter months on our sprinkling system watering every second day?

Many thanks for your response to the above queries
