A narrow garden up against a fence. Get’s sun on and off in the summer..am able to grow veges there..but ..in the winter is cold and wet…no sun at all .. but bright light There’s a problem with water rat’s and possum’s so I’ve gone off growing veges in the summer What can I grow there all year round. I’d like some flowers and colour not big enough for tree’s or large bushes. Could grow on the fence as well.

We have a shaded area at the front of the property. There are flaxes, agaves and olive tree planted and the garden does not get much sunlight. We are looking at planting small spreading plants to fill in the area with little maintenance. We have looked at grasses too. What else can we plant that also would add color to the green foliage from the other plants?

Hi. Looking to help my mother sell her house and are looking to brighten up the front approach to the house. It is a south, south east aspect and has a lot of shade from the house. Just need this to look good for 6 weeks or so – any suggests for what annuals will work in that setting? Thank you.

I am planning a wedding for April 2014. What can I plant which will flower? hot pink/blue/purple/mauve? Shrubs and flowers. Currently I have camelias only flowering. I want a climber, a hedge which I can keep clipped short and something either wide of a pathway, also two flowering specimen trees (could be fruit). also something to esplandier. All of these need to be flowering mid April 2014?

We’ve moved into our new home and are thinking of getting started with the landscaping of the front yard. Is April/May a good time for planting so the plants are “settled” by the time spring arrives? We’re also thinking of composting the garden beds this month. How soon after composting can we start planting?

We have lomandra grass around (our background is tropical themed) but I was wanting something a bit more thicker and flaxier leaves. This spots gets full afternoon sun from about midday.

In the near future I’m thinking of planting a Living Wall and see that you have an exclusive product available.
How much per unit is it and what are it’s dimensions? It would be something I’d do in sections as each fence panel is approx 1.5m high by 2.5 wide and there are 10 panels or so in all.

Regards,

Nic.

Hi,
Can I transplant an arum lily plant from one garden to the next? If not, is this species sold commercially, or other options.
Thanks

Hi, I have a very shaded back fence that doesn’t get any sun on it. I have planted 6 Montevilla plants, hoping they would creep along the fence. However they haven’t grown. Can you give me a suggestion for another creeping plant that doesn’t require sun to grow. I would like the plant to have white flowers as it’s a black fence.

Hi There

My back yard and front yard all have some big trees with because the the trees and the house, we got huge area in both yards covered by shard. Also because the land is not 100% flat , so the front yard always wet than other place.

We have to mow the left side of the house often but looks like the grass on right side never growing.

Can you please let me know what we can do about this part of the yard?

Thanks

Hi there, we have an area of garden that has some large trees/shrubs such as camellia and rhododendrons. Along with a couple of other large evergreen trees these ensure that the majority of the garden is in shade or at the very best filtered light all year round. We have some hydrangeas which grow very well in summer but a lot of the area is unplanted due to the shade. We have placed some large planter pots in the area but these remain unplanted at present. The large trees/shrubs are trimmed and thinned during the year however we really don’t want to remove any of them. I would appreciate some ideas for medium and small planting, ground cover and what to put into the pots.
