Once aster daisies have died off do I pull the plants out and throw away or do you cut them down
If so do they re grow next year. I thought they were perennials

I bought lemon verbena from Palmers Pakuranga and the leaves are turning black around the edges. The plant is in a pot indoors next to a slider.
What is the cause?
Thanks

I grew G.Gypsy White from seed this summer. As a $4 packet of just 15 seeds produced only five plants I was keen to save seed for next year. Now the plants have turned brown I investigated if there were any seeds and found hundreds of tiny thread-like seedlings underneath the plant. I am wondering what my chances are of overwintering them and how to go about it – I don’t have a greenhouse.

Hi

My question is two fold

I would like to grow a number of camellias clipped into standards. Then under plant with black mondo grass

What varieties of camellias would suit this best? I want to keep them to about 1.5m
Also, as camellias need an acid soil would that be OK for the mondo grass?

I have grown sunflowers for the first time this year and am amazed at the wonderful results. Now that they are almost over when do I cut them down and what to do with the dinner plate size heads?
I would be grateful for any tips or suggestions regarding sunflowers. I think the seeds were annuals.
Many thanks.

When I spray with Conqueror Oil in conjunction with other sprays, do I need the usual Sprayfix as well, or does the Oil repel the weather? I am spraying roses and other flowers in the home garden.

I planted a Michalina (spelling may not be correct) in our garden and we are very pleased how established it is now reaching about 4 metres. I would like to plant another along our boundry in a trough about 1.5 metres deep by about 1 metre wide. It would be ideal given potential height and width. However the trough has a concrete base as the base is the footing of a 2 metre high wall.
Would a Michalina grow ok given the depth and width of the trough.
Thanks

Hello there
We need advice on the most successful type of plants to grow in a gravely, dryish often shady position running along the north west side of our house.
We need something that has good thickish covering & grows at least 30cm high.

We planted 4 ornamental grapes in late spring by the corner posts of our veranda pergola. They are flourishing but sending out laterals and shoots into nearby bush roses. How do we train these young vines up the posts..do we prune back the laterals/shoots now to enable the stronger cane to run up the post? How short do we prune back the shoots/laterals?
I would appreciate any advice you could offer.
Many thanks

Hi we are planning to make our side garden which is 4 metres long by half a metre wide into a succulent garden with rocks succulents and creeping plants (alyssum lobelia etc) as well. Could you please tell me what sort of soil should i have for these plants normal everyday soil with compost added or do succulents require something extra. This garden gets full sun and is quite dry. I live in Te Awamutu so in winter we get frosts but will be covering it with frost cloth anyway.
Thank you for your help
Kind Regards
