I planted a Michalina (spelling may not be correct) in our garden and we are very pleased how established it is now reaching about 4 metres. I would like to plant another along our boundry in a trough about 1.5 metres deep by about 1 metre wide. It would be ideal given potential height and width. However the trough has a concrete base as the base is the footing of a 2 metre high wall.
Would a Michalina grow ok given the depth and width of the trough.
Thanks

Hello there
We need advice on the most successful type of plants to grow in a gravely, dryish often shady position running along the north west side of our house.
We need something that has good thickish covering & grows at least 30cm high.

We planted 4 ornamental grapes in late spring by the corner posts of our veranda pergola. They are flourishing but sending out laterals and shoots into nearby bush roses. How do we train these young vines up the posts..do we prune back the laterals/shoots now to enable the stronger cane to run up the post? How short do we prune back the shoots/laterals?
I would appreciate any advice you could offer.
Many thanks

Hi we are planning to make our side garden which is 4 metres long by half a metre wide into a succulent garden with rocks succulents and creeping plants (alyssum lobelia etc) as well. Could you please tell me what sort of soil should i have for these plants normal everyday soil with compost added or do succulents require something extra. This garden gets full sun and is quite dry. I live in Te Awamutu so in winter we get frosts but will be covering it with frost cloth anyway.
Thank you for your help
Kind Regards

Hi There

Just checking to see if the Palmers Gift cards can be used in the cafe as well?

If not does the cafe have its own gift cards?

Thanks

I have some clumping dwarf bamboo on the boundary between our property and that of a neighbour. There is a retaining wall, about 500mm, and the clumping dwarf bamboo is about 300mm away from the retaining wall. The neighbour claims it will spread. This has caused a major uproar to say the least.

Is he correct that my clumping dwarf bamboo will spread into his property?

Regards
Cilla

I was wondering if any of your stores stock Aloe Barbadensis? Or if it is possible to order it in?

Hello, we have a small lifestyle block in south Auckland. We have effluent lines running over a big section round the back of the house where we would like to plant up some natives. We’ve been told to only plant shallow rooted plants. Ideally, in the future, I would like this part of land to provide shelter and food for birds and bees, privacy from the neighbor and a nice place to sit and listen to nature – so different heights, shapes, sizes and smells. I’m a bit overwhelmed and wondered if you could provide some guidance? Thank you, I really appreciate any help you can give.

Hi,

I have a Gardena MaxControl. On the Gardena website it says you can programme to water every 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on to 7th day. I can see buttons for every 2nd and 3rd days but how to you programme say every 4th day? The manual doesn’t say how. Am I missing something?
