Hi there

Last year my roses had alphids.

My question is:

It has been raining constantly in Auckland and it has also been very windy nearly everyday.
Can I spray my roses?

I am concerned it would be a waste of time when it is so windy.
Please advise.

Many thanks
kind regards
Winnie

Help please -we have had to harvest our swedes and need to know how best to store them. I have read to use moist peat but know that the use of peat is frowned upon- I cannot seem to track it down anyway. would bark chippings be a suitable substitute or just compost or wood shavings? got plenty of bark chippings and wood shavings if they would be suitable.
Also have had to harvest our leeks. I know they can be left in the ground so would it be worth trying to re-plant them or storing them in whatever ?
Thank you

Regards

Linda

I planted a peony bulb 3 years ago and it still hasn’t flowerd.
I planted in a large terracotta pot using palmers palmers bulb soil. The leaves grow every year and the leaves are lush and healthy with no flaws at all. But no bud for a flower.
I planted one bulb which was bought from palmers. Over the last two years I also put a free freesias in the pot as well.

Hi
I am trying to find a violet called “Mistress Mallory”. I had in it my garden but it was lost due the earthquakes. The orginal plant came from a NZ violet grower , she was based in North Island ( i remember seeing something about her on Maggies Garden show many years ago) and I purchased it at Mitre 10 when my daughter Mallory was only 12 months old. She is about to get married and I would love to have some of ‘her plant” to go in the wedding flowers.
Can you help?

Hi

My question is two fold

I would like to grow a number of camellias clipped into standards. Then under plant with black mondo grass

What varieties of camellias would suit this best? I want to keep them to about 1.5m
Also, as camellias need an acid soil would that be OK for the mondo grass?
