I have just purchased a meyer lemon tree. I have a very small garden area and the best spot for the tree is next to the house facing northl
How far from the house can I plant the tree please. I am thinking I will keep it well pruned.

Five years ago, on the basis of its anticipated rich autumn colouring we bought a claret ash. At the time we planted it, it was changing to the deep red we expected to see every April/May. But alas this was not to be. Ever since that first year, the foliage has remained green and refused to change colour before falling. Once again this year the same thing is happening – while other claret ash in the district have turned beautifully red. Why might this be so?

Good morning, I have a number of roses that require priuning back so I can replace the trellis behind them and let them grow in a structured way. When is the best time to prune back?

At the advice session on lawn care at Palmers Miramar last weekend one comment was that if an area was just too shady to support a lawn there were other covers that could be planted instead. Could you please tell me what might be suitable for a small area at the bottom of my lawnthat is heavily shaded? I have tried three times to estblish a lawn, but it just goes back into moss.

Hi there

Last year my roses had alphids.

My question is:

It has been raining constantly in Auckland and it has also been very windy nearly everyday.
Can I spray my roses?

I am concerned it would be a waste of time when it is so windy.
Please advise.

Many thanks
kind regards
Winnie

Having been given some iris bulbs I wondered if I could start them growing now (March) in pots then transplant them into the garden at a later date…and what type of ground do iris plants need?

Are your containers recyclable? Having just purchased another 12 plants today we currently have 24 x 6″ and 3 x 12″ pots.

Thanks,

Wayne

Hi

I have been told that there is a sister/good plant that is best for the caterpillars to go to when ready. You have mentioned plants that they go to but not the names.

Thanks

It is not the leaves that are going brown, they look very healthy, it is the flowers that are getting brown on my Hydrangea’s – almost like they are burnt. I am now presuming this might be due to heat – like a sunburn, but wonder if you have a suggestion please.

Is October the correct time to plant a Lily Of The Valley shrub and do they like shade e.g. under trees or in the sun. I want one that smells nice and is hardy. I really appreciate being able to ask advice

Hi do you have any advice on what I can use to eliminate weeds around garden that doesn’t kill shrubs or trees, or harmful to animals as we have a cat and i have asthma and sensitive skin. I would prefer something natural and organic. Thank you much appreciated!

Does the Palmers book on trees and schrubs still exist? I had one for years which had all my plant labels inside on the correct page. The moral of the story is don’t let someone else (he shall remain nameless) clean out your book shelves!!!!
