It is not the leaves that are going brown, they look very healthy, it is the flowers that are getting brown on my Hydrangea’s – almost like they are burnt. I am now presuming this might be due to heat – like a sunburn, but wonder if you have a suggestion please.
My daughter is getting married in February next year and I want to plant up potted gardens and borders with something suitable. I love petunias but this year they were over by February. If I planted them later would this work? I love bizzy lizzys too – I have any area that is quite damp – would these work here?
I am doing a wedding in February next year and wanted to know what flowers are in season during February and when would be the best time to seed / plant.
I was thinking snap dragon, chrysanthemums , marigolds etc would be easy and bright?
Would love to know your thoughts. We are wanting to pick all the flowers for the wedding day.

Dear Palmers people,
I’m looking for one or two Virgilia trees to plant on our Nelson property. We have plenty of room for them (just under a hectare) and we have one mature Virgilia at present which has done well despite the odd frost, but I think may be nearing the end of its’ life. Do you stock Virgilia or could you please direct me to where i might find them?

Last year my roses had alphids.
My question is:
It has been raining constantly in Auckland and it has also been very windy nearly everyday.
Can I spray my roses?
I am concerned it would be a waste of time when it is so windy.

My mother-in-law’s birthday is Christmas Day & I wanted to buy her a small pohutukawa tree that she could plant in her garden to bloom each year for her birthday. Could you advise me on where to locate these & what I may need to know about planting it so it will have the best start?

I have recently managed to get hold of some Ixia Viridiflora seeds and would like best advice on when and how to sow them? Are these sown at same time bulbs should be planted? I am planning on growing these in pots not the ground.
Thanks in advance.

I grew G.Gypsy White from seed this summer. As a $4 packet of just 15 seeds produced only five plants I was keen to save seed for next year. Now the plants have turned brown I investigated if there were any seeds and found hundreds of tiny thread-like seedlings underneath the plant. I am wondering what my chances are of overwintering them and how to go about it – I don’t have a greenhouse.
