Hi

My newly planted camellias (Transnokoensis) are losing their leaves as the flowers form on the plants. I have fed the plants with both Yates dynamic lifter and thrive camellia food. They are planted in a raised bed beside a fence on the east side of our property. The raised bed is filled with soil, compost, potting mix and sheep pellets. I have not watered during the winter, but we have had some rainfall. The leaves have not yellowed, just fallen off. I wondered if the fact that the raised bed is by a possible wind tunnel could cause this problem.

I’m desperate, I believe that none of my 4 plants will survive the spring

Good Afternoon,

Over the last 6 – 12 months my lemon tree which was a thriving bushy green tree with lots of lemons has become a very sad looking tree. A lot of the branches are brown, have stripped their greenery and there hasn’t been any new growth for a long time. The leaves are yellow

I have used Epsom salts, sheep pellets and seasol with no impact. There was a lots of avids and bugs on the tree 12 months ago and so I gave it a dose of conqueror oil.

I did dig down to the roots and they appeared wet so I pulled back the soil and let it dry out.

Next to the lemon tree is a lime tree and that is large, bushy, green and growing really well. A few branches stripped their greenery but it is growing back

What do you suggest for the lemon tree – will it ever recover? Does it need to be pruned?

Many Thanks,
James

Hi,
I recently bought 2 echium plants from Whangarei Palmers and their leaves are curling and drooping during midday sun. I am concerned as was trying to grow a plant from off cuts from the South Island and never succeeded.
The spot we have them in is well drained, stony and dry, full sun.
We added sphagnum moss and compost when planting from pot.
Do they need lots of water in the initial settling period? What can we do to ensure they settle and grow well?
Thank you!
Julia

I want to plant “Moss” on my desk in a study room. Ideally, I am intended to use the moss make a “moss ball” and hanging from the ceiling. What are factors should I consider? I heard some people say moss are hard to take care of especially in an indoor environment, is this true?

What are your recommendations for psyllid bug control? I have tried neem product, companion marigolds and various insecticides but tomatoes were devastated.

Hi

I have two fuschias growing in containers, the one is not doing well at all. It has now started to lose all of its leaves and flowers. They just drop off before opening. The leaves turn yellow and drop off. I thought that maybe I had over watered them. Could this be so. Can you please help me it how I can bring them back to life. 🙁

Thanks You

Alyson

My kikuyu lawn has patches of weeds growing here and there and if I don’t mow the lawn weekly they will become very visible. What should I do to solve the problem? Can I kill the weeds without killing my kikuyu?

Hi there,
I absolutely LOVE the Lisianthus plants so I recently bought three as pot plants. So far in lost one, one is barely hanging on there and the other isn’t much better either. A friend suggested that it may be aphids causing the problem so I used a broad spectrum aphid treatment but I’m afraid that may have been the final straw for the first one as it died shortly after.
The leaves are all turning yellow and very droopey and while it does appear that some of the leaves are being eaten, I can only see a few little white specks, they are hardly infested.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as these plants do mean alot to me.

Many thanks
Judith

I have a well established Rhodo (unknown name) – this year it produced buds that did not develop into flowers and the leaves are going dark brown at the tips. there is a very slight possibility that it got a little bit of poison into its system as I used some on nearby convolvulus. If so how do I nurse it back to health?

Hi I need some advice please. I purchased a Tamarinda from your Plimmerton outlet on the 6 April and followed the instructions regarding planting in semi shade etc and removed some of the flowers to avoid stressing the plant. For the first 2 1/2 weeks it was looking great and then we had a cold snap. During the last 10 days it has completely collapsed and looks to be dyeing off. When I originally planted it I watered it well and then followed up with watering about 4-5 days later then again about 6 days later.
I am not sure if it is dyeing or if it it will regenerate again come spring. Can you please advise
Thanks

I have an endemic of holes in the leaves of bergenia as well as silver beet and spinach in the vege garden. These are round small holes in the bergenia and larger holes in the silverbeet and spinach. Have been told that there is another caterpillar on the munch due to the warmer months of April and May. Has anyone ideas about this new gardening problem as I have no idea how to combat it.

I have a Dracaena Draco tree which we have had for about 5 yrs. It has 1 head and has been been looking good until now, it has just flowered this summer, the flower is dying and now all the leaves seem to be dropping off. Im not sure if I need to cut off the flower, the top of the tree or do nothing.

We have a twenty five year old maple tree which appears to be losing some of it’s cannopy with the leaves from the smaller branches dying.
Could the recent spell of very dry weather be affecting it?
