We have some distinct yellow patches in our lawn which don’t look like general dryness. We have an automated sprinkler on the lawn every second day, so it shouldn’t be dry. Do you think it may be grass grub or porina?

I have one completely dead Pseudopanax which is about 3 m high. When I looked closely there were numerous holes in the stems which looked larger than I have seen on my lemon tree with borer. However, when I broke the stems open lengthwise, there was a tunnel all the way.

My hydrangeas will not flower.I pruned them at the right time and maybe gave them too much fertilizer. They are the mop top variety. Is there a special way to prune them because if I don’t, they will be reaching the top of the house next year if I don’t.

Hi,

I bought this Button Bush couple month back from Palmers Rotorua, and I grew it in the pot approx size 5×5 and now starting to look yellowish-not greenish color. What should I do to help this plant back to normal?

As well as for my Boronia, same case. Appreciate if you could give me some advice for it.

Thank you.

Hi. I have 8 young avocado trees, and on the 2 Hass (on Zutano) ones there is a small area on a branch that has white growth on it. Under that is a brown discolouration with evenly spaced dots in the bark. I’d love to know what this is and what to do about it.
thanks

Hi there

My large geranium has become half brown, from the inside out. Its become covered in white fly. Should I chop it right back and/or just treat the fly?

Hi, A few days ago I bought a pohutukawa in a pot (species called Maori Princess) from Palmers in Bethlehem, Tauranga. It’s going to be our inside Xmas tree and we will plant it out in the garden after Xmas. My question is, how often should I water it in its pot inside to stay healthy? Thanks so much for your help and Merry Xmas!

I bought a Yen Ben Lemon Tree 3 years ago and it has been doing really well.
Unfortunately after all the rain we have had (it might not have anything to
do with it), the leaves at the top of the tree are curling inwards. Why would
it do that and can I rectify it. I was so proud of how it has grown and would
hate to loose it.

Good Afternoon,

Over the last 6 – 12 months my lemon tree which was a thriving bushy green tree with lots of lemons has become a very sad looking tree. A lot of the branches are brown, have stripped their greenery and there hasn’t been any new growth for a long time. The leaves are yellow

I have used Epsom salts, sheep pellets and seasol with no impact. There was a lots of avids and bugs on the tree 12 months ago and so I gave it a dose of conqueror oil.

I did dig down to the roots and they appeared wet so I pulled back the soil and let it dry out.

Next to the lemon tree is a lime tree and that is large, bushy, green and growing really well. A few branches stripped their greenery but it is growing back

What do you suggest for the lemon tree – will it ever recover? Does it need to be pruned?

Many Thanks,
James

Can you tell me how to look after my Australian Tree Grass tree (black boy) what sort of mix should I use, when do I repot, is it alright to tease out the roots as I think it is root bound in the pot it is in. What sort of fertiliser do I use and when.

Hi,

We bought and planted a weeping cherry at the start of spring. It started to blossom (but not full blossom) after three weeks from planting and the blossoms have dried out since then. The leaves appear to be small and tree shows no growth at all (based from the size and number of leaves of each branch). The leaves wilted and the flowers/fruits have dried out. Can we still do something to save this young tree?

Hi

I acquired two falcate yellowwood trees from Palmer’s Remuera and they are potted in recommended pots from palmers.

They are about 1.3m from the soil line.

I wonder how often I should water them and what else I need to do to care for them.

Thanks

Brett

Hi there,

We have a big problem with little maggots which are eating and rotting all our spring bulbs (tulips, daffodils) and also parsley. It’s in many different parts of the garden and covers large areas. Help!

We make our own compost and mix it in the soil, maybe this is the “food” they are looking for?

Thank you

My white Daphne which is in a huge container has put on a lot of growth since flowering but has gone a bit floppy and producing yellow leaves. I do give it a lot of water (most days) and I have just given a good feed with liquid fish fertiliser as I wonder if this may be the problem?
