How long would you expect a Hibiscus to survive? Tree in my garden is probably around 8-10 years old (already there when we arrived) and is beginning to look scrappy. Growing in very poor soil, quite dry, full sun. The tree is still flowering but clearly struggling

I have been looking at buying Neem granules instead of Neem oil. Would sprinkling the granules be an easier solution with same effects than having to spray the plants with the oil every couple of weeks?

I have some Azalea mucronatum Alba that last season appeared to be diseased or infected as the leaves discolored and were looking motley. New growth has now appeared and I would like to know what I should spay them with to keep them looking healthly. If need be I can bring some of the old leaves in store

My neighbour has two Passionfruit plants twelve months old and all the leaves have gone yellow. What is the cause of this? They are in a box section 6inches high and approx 2 feet square with bagged compost as the main growing ingredient. Should the plants be pruned at this time of year?

I have these great hydrangea bushes, but unfortunately they haven’t blossomed these recent years. So, this spring I’ve watered it heaps, and have added some fertiliser, and a couple of their leaves have started turning yellow, should I be worried? And do you have any advice to make hydrangeas blossom again? Thanks heaps!

I grow Rocoto chilli plants and have the tomato/potato phillid on it. Have tried numerous sprays but because they have hairy leaves the spray does not settle, can you help with the one that really does work?

For your ideas on my michelia figo. It turned out to be borer which killed one branch and is affecting several others. I have removed the dead branch, and treated any obvious or possible borer holes on sick branches (borer spray direct into the holes). Apart from a feed to support the general health of the plant, is there anything else I should do? Would a general insecticide spray of all the branches and trunks be of any benefit – now or later in the year when bugs might fly?

I’ve just planted some Phormium ‘chocomint’ flaxes in outdoor planter boxes. What is the best fertiliser to use, and how often?

We have two large michelia figo growing close to each other. One started having a band/section of yellow leaves 4 weeks ago – about half way up. Now those leaves are dead and most of the leaves below this seem to be yellowing. The other tree has some random leaves turning yellow as well. Don’t want to lose these trees. What might be causing it, is there anything we can do?

I have a healthy daphne bush, purchased last year and it flowered well, has grown over the summer and looking good but just wondering whether it should have a feed of anything to encourage/aid the next flowering. Wondering whether a feed of liquid seaweed would be appropriate ?

We have three Karaka trees on our front lawn – not sure how old they are. They keep dropping yellow leaves and some have brown spots on them as well. The middle tree doesn’t appear to drop as many as the two outside ones. Is this normal?

In my new property I have inherited a large protea which is flowering well, but it is very scraggly and has some dead or dying areas. How can I prune it to get it to bush out without destroying it all together?
