i have neglected a bird of Paradise in a large pot and now would like to rescue it. It has 3 tall leaves on it – all have scale on them and they look tragic. I want to know if I treat it for scale insect, TLC the pot & Soil etc and cut it back to ground level, will is come away again?

I have dug up my dahlias over winter. I noticed some of them had been damaged with being removed, and I am wondering if I should remove any bulbs which are not intact before replanting them.

Hi

My Lemon tree is very old and flowers continually. However, it does suffer badly from Verrucosis. If I understand correctly when spraying with copper it will cause the flowers to drop off. If so, what is the best time and suggested method of spraying?

Under a soffit which is 6 mths old shows some branches with leaves curled inwards whilst other parts of plant has new growth. I lost a white one 4 mths ago suddenly starting with same symptoms. The plant is watered every 3 days thoroughly and sits in 120mm potting mix over clay and metal mix so free draining.
I have a gracipies growing happily next to it same conditions.

Hi, my Hebe Emerald Green in the front yard were doing really well for about 9 months, but now they are slowly turning brown and dying. Additional watering and fertilising didn’t seem to help at all. Is there anything I can do to save them or bring them back to life?

Thanks
Oliver

Hi!
We have recently moved to a new house that has some tall Cyprus / conifer trees. They are showing some brown foliage as shown in the photos. I cannot see any bugs or scale in the plants themselves. Is this perhaps normal for this time of year?
Thank you,
Shelley

Hi
Over the last 2 weeks we have had patches of black fungus or mould looking growth on our lawn. Only our lawn, not other peoples. It seems to be killing or burning the tops of the grass

I could try mowing it off, but I could be just spreading it. Attached couple of photos. Appreciate any help to identify and treat it.

Thanks

I am beginner gardener and I am not sure what kind of insects I have on my plants. I have them on flowers on herbs and on some vegetables as well. It seem that they chew leaves and stems. Their color is grayish, size is between 2-4 mm. Not sure what is that exactly, but looks like they have some white hair on their back and they are jumping. I used Yates Mavrik and Confidor against them, but did not help.

Hi there,
Could you please suggest an effective way of ridding my garden of oxalis? I am tired of pulling up these persistent weeds but do not wish to use anything that might kill my plants.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi there.
I recently returned home to find all of my lawns mowed and edges line trimmed. I’m guessing it was a lawn mowing service for the rental property down the back that got the wrong house. Anyway after initially thinking this was a fantastic gift I soon discovered that 5 of my 6 young (14 months since planted at 30cm high) star jasmine bushes had been badly attacked by the line trimmer. 1 bush was completely ring barked about 3 inches in length right at the base. 2 other bushes had full ring barking on 1 or more limbs but not the complete bush and 1 bush was about 3 quarters ring barked. I’ve wrapped and taped some kitchen cloth around the exposed areas and have been keeping the cloth damp in an effort to keep them alive,
My question is how resilient are Star Jasmine? Will they die where completely stripped of bark or is there a chance my first aid measures may help? Or should I cut my losses and remove the damaged limbs to save the healthy ones remaining? The diameter of the plants at the base would only be around 10mm.
Many thanks

We have two large michelia figo growing close to each other. One started having a band/section of yellow leaves 4 weeks ago – about half way up. Now those leaves are dead and most of the leaves below this seem to be yellowing. The other tree has some random leaves turning yellow as well. Don’t want to lose these trees. What might be causing it, is there anything we can do?

I bought a swan plant for the Monarch butterflies and it grew very rapidly has been absolutely inundated with caterpillars so much so that they have demolished every last leaf on it! Is it too late to plant another one? I am wondering what will happen to the caterpillars now they have lost their abundant food supply
