As above.

I grew some parsley, chives, coriander, basil and parsley indoors and it got whitefly.

A friend told me this is inevitable if grown indoors

Any help appreciated 🙂

If a plant has been left for awhile and looks dead, can it still survive and grow?

Hi

I acquired two falcate yellowwood trees from Palmer’s Remuera and they are potted in recommended pots from palmers.

They are about 1.3m from the soil line.

I wonder how often I should water them and what else I need to do to care for them.

Thanks

Brett

I have a couple of climbing Metrosideros carminea that are about eight years old. In the last few months the leaves at the bottom of the plants are going silvery, dying and falling off. Any thoughts?

I have 4 medium/large potted shrubs (of Lilly Pilly’s) outdoors and the soil is infected with a caterpillar type grub that I assume is eating the roots and slowly destroying the plant.
The pots are too large/heavy for 1 ordinary person to lift.
What should I do to eliminate this pest?

I have photographed the offender if that would help!

Hi – About 16 months ago we brought a weeping cherry tree from Palmers at Welcome Bay; my question is this – how do we stop the growth sprouts on the trunk? We strip them off only to have them re sprout a week later! Also hardly any blooms this year and thus far the leaves are pretty sparse. We think it is trying to tell us something – please help!
Thanks heaps
Sue

Hello

We have Choysa Tenarta Toparies out the front of our house. They seem to have been attacked by Borer. We have pruned them well back so they are pretty much bare now.

What would you recommend to spray them with to get rid of it?? When spraying, do you spray down into the hollow branches as well and in the bark around trunk??

Look forward to your reply – thank you

Hi there,

I brought a beautiful white clematis but it’s getting completely eaten – what should I use to protect it?

I have a Clivia miniata planted into the soil in a shaded ( no sun) corner of the garden which has orange/ brown spots here and there on it’s leaves and edges of leaves. What is the cause of this and how can I put it right. This is it’s first year, when can I expect it to bloom ? I always make sure there is plenty of snail bait around it as I know that they love them.

Hey,

After the cold winter I now have two palm trees with severe cold damage. The leaves have gone brown, however there is still some green in the leaf spear, but not at the ends. Any advice on what we can do to help the plant get healthier? Should we prune it right back at all? Fertiliser?

Thank you

I had two lovely conifers in my garden but they both went brown and had to pull them out, also another one is going brown. Why do they do this, I thought they were an everlasting tree? I am thinking of planting more, so some good advice would be helpful thanks.

Our Coprosma in the courtyard have not wintered well due to all the rain, I live in North West Auckland. They grew very bushy (so not a lot of light could get through) and tall and then lots of leaves fell off so some of the trees were nearly bare. I noticed the leaves were going yellow and had black spots. I have now trimmed them down and cut off lots of branches. Do you know what the problem with the leaves is and is there hope for these. How do we care for these trees?

Hi there,

We have a big problem with little maggots which are eating and rotting all our spring bulbs (tulips, daffodils) and also parsley. It’s in many different parts of the garden and covers large areas. Help!

We make our own compost and mix it in the soil, maybe this is the “food” they are looking for?

Thank you

Hi,
I recently bought 2 echium plants from Whangarei Palmers and their leaves are curling and drooping during midday sun. I am concerned as was trying to grow a plant from off cuts from the South Island and never succeeded.
The spot we have them in is well drained, stony and dry, full sun.
We added sphagnum moss and compost when planting from pot.
Do they need lots of water in the initial settling period? What can we do to ensure they settle and grow well?
Thank you!
