Our Coprosma in the courtyard have not wintered well due to all the rain, I live in North West Auckland. They grew very bushy (so not a lot of light could get through) and tall and then lots of leaves fell off so some of the trees were nearly bare. I noticed the leaves were going yellow and had black spots. I have now trimmed them down and cut off lots of branches. Do you know what the problem with the leaves is and is there hope for these. How do we care for these trees?

The fruit on my lemon tree are covered in wart like lumps and bumps. They are so ugly, we don’t know if they’re safe to eat.

We have two large michelia figo growing close to each other. One started having a band/section of yellow leaves 4 weeks ago – about half way up. Now those leaves are dead and most of the leaves below this seem to be yellowing. The other tree has some random leaves turning yellow as well. Don’t want to lose these trees. What might be causing it, is there anything we can do?

Hi there, my boyfriend has a potted Sophora molloyi dragons gold kowhai tree that has been looking sickly for the past couple of weeks. It has always been a sparse spindly kind of tree with very thin trunk and branches, and is only small being about 1 meter wide and 0.5 meter high. It was repotted into a larger pot nearly 12 months ago and seemed to be doing well until recently. The leaves have almost all turned yellow and the thin branches seem to be wilting a lot. My boyfriend thinks this started after he didn’t water it for a week, but has been watering it daily since then with no obvious benefit. Is our tree salvageable??

Goood evening,

Wounder if you can help with our Port wine magnolia plants. Bushes are 8 to 9 years old and over 6′ tall. 2 years ago our farmer neighbor had lime put on. Because of wind I think most ended up at our place. It was thick. Bushes have twisted leaves and flowers, if you can call them flowers! Have feed them and sprayed bushes with
vinegar. Bushes still look terrible. Can you think of a solution, wait? or pull them out and start again.

Thanks Mark

I have three ake ake plants in my garden. One appears to be dying. Many of the leaves have fallen off and those that are left have big holes in them. The other two are heading the same way. What should I do with them?

Our small kowhai trees have been very troubled by the presence in HUGE numbers of the kowhai caterpillar. I understand they will not kill the tree but they certainly make it look unsightly. Is there a way to deter/ exterminate these voracious critters? This year I stopped counting at 1000 squashed caterpillars, but this method did take a concerted effort!!!

Hi there,
Could you please suggest an effective way of ridding my garden of oxalis? I am tired of pulling up these persistent weeds but do not wish to use anything that might kill my plants.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi I need some advice please. I purchased a Tamarinda from your Plimmerton outlet on the 6 April and followed the instructions regarding planting in semi shade etc and removed some of the flowers to avoid stressing the plant. For the first 2 1/2 weeks it was looking great and then we had a cold snap. During the last 10 days it has completely collapsed and looks to be dyeing off. When I originally planted it I watered it well and then followed up with watering about 4-5 days later then again about 6 days later.
I am not sure if it is dyeing or if it it will regenerate again come spring. Can you please advise
Thanks
Melanie
