My lemon tree has little piles of sawdust under some of the branches. The leaves on these branches are also quite yellow. Is this lemon tree borer?

We have just bought a property with a neglected garden on the Kapiti Coast and it is absolutely riddled with Oxalis, at least I think it’s Oxalis (looks like clover leaves with little yellow flowers?) Is there an answer to getting rid of this nasty weed, or do we have to remove it manually and try to find all its little bulbs in the process? Oh please tell me there’s an easier way – we have about a third acre and it’s everywhere.

Nine years ago I moved to my home and inherited a mature, healthy red camelia tree, which bloomed abundantly for 7 years. In the past 2 years the leaves have gradually lost their glossy green colour and gone yellow with brown specks and there are a lot less leaves, fewer flowers which are floppy and fall off the tree as soon as open. I have applied specific camellia fertiliser but maybe not often enough. The tree is in full sunlight. Has it just lived its lifespan or how it can be saved?

How do I get the best results from my potted deck plants ie Yucca’s which are yellowing on tip of leaves and our Bird of Paradise no flowers 2 years on?!  All pots are large and ample for the plants sizes and using sprinkle pellet fertilizer on all .

I have 4 medium/large potted shrubs (of Lilly Pilly’s) outdoors and the soil is infected with a caterpillar type grub that I assume is eating the roots and slowly destroying the plant.
The pots are too large/heavy for 1 ordinary person to lift.
What should I do to eliminate this pest?

I have photographed the offender if that would help!

Hi – I divided and fed my daylillies last year with blood and bone and compost, but despite that they are still looking lacklustre with yellowing leaves. Could they have some sort of rust? How can I restore them back to health?

Hi, A few days ago I bought a pohutukawa in a pot (species called Maori Princess) from Palmers in Bethlehem, Tauranga. It’s going to be our inside Xmas tree and we will plant it out in the garden after Xmas. My question is, how often should I water it in its pot inside to stay healthy? Thanks so much for your help and Merry Xmas!

Hi there

I have this Vine Weevil grub killing my Blueberries. As it is living in the ground how can I get rid of it? Any speedy advice would be great thanks as the garden centres I have asked at have been unable to give me an answer.

Thanks.

I had two lovely conifers in my garden but they both went brown and had to pull them out, also another one is going brown. Why do they do this, I thought they were an everlasting tree? I am thinking of planting more, so some good advice would be helpful thanks.

I have been looking at buying Neem granules instead of Neem oil. Would sprinkling the granules be an easier solution with same effects than having to spray the plants with the oil every couple of weeks?

  1. Can you please tell me what I can use to control bronze beetle on camellia, fruit trees and roses. I have Shield. Will that work on the bronze beetles chewing the roses? 2. I have a virus in my camellia and it has yellow green leaves. How do I fix this?

I’ve managed to kill my new goji berry, though these are supposed to be very hardy. It wasn’t under-watered but the leaves went limp and now they have shrivelled. I’m thinking my potting mix/compost mix was too strong. Does that sound right?

Hi
Over the last 2 weeks we have had patches of black fungus or mould looking growth on our lawn. Only our lawn, not other peoples. It seems to be killing or burning the tops of the grass

I could try mowing it off, but I could be just spreading it. Attached couple of photos. Appreciate any help to identify and treat it.

Thanks

Standard Mock orange blossom Mature.
Dwarf Kowhai
Small Camelia

In different places on the section.
Leaves have fallen off or gone yellow and died.
Have used all Yates products recommended to me with very little effect.
Plants around above are all thriving well.

Thank you

I have an old very large leggy red robin tree about 4-5 mtrs tall. I need to cut it right back to bare trunk and branches as it is out of control and I cannot reach the top to trim.
Can you tell me what month is the best to do this (don’t know if bugs or frosts could affect it if I cut at the wrong time). thanks
