I have a passionfruit plant that is growing over the fence between our house and my neighbours. When I walk down the fence line, hundreds of small browny coloured moth type insects fly everywhere. What are these insects, and how do I stop them from sitting all over my passionfruit?

My neighbour has two Passionfruit plants twelve months old and all the leaves have gone yellow. What is the cause of this? They are in a box section 6inches high and approx 2 feet square with bagged compost as the main growing ingredient. Should the plants be pruned at this time of year?

I have 2 Ligustrum Rotundifolias in pots beside the front door. One is growing very well and has lots of new growth and shiny leaves – the other has dull leaves and they turn in towards the trunk and keep dying and falling off. It has got some new growth but compared to the other plant looks very unwell. What sort of disease has this got and is there anything to spray this with??
Thank you

Hello
Do you have any advice how I can perk up my lapageria? It consists of a few spindly vines with a few leaves on them. It does flower, Aprox 6 flowers each year. I would love to see it healthy and a mass of vines and glossy leaves.
Many thanks

I planted a purple ake ake a year ago. It is now about 1 metre high and it has suddenly died. Would it be to wet for it. I know they tolerate dry conditions, but where it is its quite damp. I have a green one next to it and that has been there for 2 years and is doing really well.

Hi there, I’m about to have 2 pohutukawa tree stumps ground out and I would like to plant olive trees in the same spot as one of the stumps. The olive trees are a decent size (approx. 2m tall) and I will mix in some soil/garden mix with the saw dust/chips that are left behind but I’m just wondering if this will be enough for the trees to survive/cope with? Would appreciate your advice.

Thanking you in advance,
Jody Davies

As above.

I grew some parsley, chives, coriander, basil and parsley indoors and it got whitefly.

A friend told me this is inevitable if grown indoors

Any help appreciated 🙂

Some of my freesias have sprouted foliage up to about 15cm and have been quite heavily frosted. Should I remove the burnt leaves? Will they still flower?

I have a healthy daphne bush, purchased last year and it flowered well, has grown over the summer and looking good but just wondering whether it should have a feed of anything to encourage/aid the next flowering. Wondering whether a feed of liquid seaweed would be appropriate ?

We have camellias in pots that have done quite well for first couple of years but now seem to be losing leaves without replacing new ones. How often do they need fertilizer and which one is best?

Hi there,

I bought and re-potted a Ruby Tuesday fig tree from Palmers Bethlehem just two weeks ago, but by a few days one leaf was starting to get speckled brown spots, and ultimately within 5 days curled off. The rest of the leaves are now similarly browning and starting to curl.

I’ve placed it in full sun, against a wall so it doesn’t get much wind, and water the base just enough so that the soil isn’t dry past 1 inch below the top, and it is draining out the bottom of the pot. What else can I do? Is this normal for March or could it be rust?

Hello

We have a grafted passionfruit which took off when we first planted it, but now it has like a dieback on stems that seem to go white and then the passionfruit die and the stems die, what is this and what can we treat it with. Parts of the vine are growing really well but we are worried that the whole thing might die.

Thanks for your help

I am trying to grow a Lilly pilly (Eugenia) hedge for privacy from the neighbour of which I have 6 shrubs planted. 3 out of the 6 have succumbed to psyllids and it is severely affecting their growth. It was planted about 5 months ago. What do you recommend to deal with these horrible pests?

I have lifted dahlia bulbs and noticed that some have been cut by the spade or pricked by the gardening fork. Should I remove those before storing the bulbs for winter?
