Hi

I would like to buy plants for friends who may be moving in the future, which needs to be easy to look after.

I like the idea of it being in a pot with colourful flowers and a strong perfume. A freind suggested the Josephine Bruce Rose what are your thoughts on this and can you suggest anything else

They both live in Auckland

Thanks very much
Wendy

Hi! Just wondering if you have any suggests for a plant that we could purchase on behalf of the Manawatu Multiple Birth Club for a member that has just delivered her twin boys today (one still born). We are wondering about a rose with a special name in memory of the baby that has died? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We’ve recently moved to the Hawkes Bay and were thrilled to find we have peony roses however the foliage is dying off big time – is this normal? How should we care for them now?

Do you or can you obtain Mycorrhizal which is a fungi which will thrive in soil where roses used to be. To be put on roots of the new roses and put in hole with manure in hole.

Hi.

I have quite a few standard roses, mainly Iceberg and I have one Margaret Merrill. We have just built the house and all roses were planted this winter. The Margaret Merrill has terrible black spot. I have been spraying it weekly but it doesn’t seem to be improving and only has about 10 leaves which are all covered in black spot. It has also started to spread to the two closest Icebergs and worry it will continue to spread to all of them. Should I get rid of the Margaret Merrill. I have never had a Margaret Merrill before so not sure if it is just later to bloom than the icebergs which currently all look amazing (besides a few leaves with black spot)and will still come away or it it should be covered in foliage by now? Also is I do get rid of it all together, will the black spot be in the soil and will I need to avoid replanting a rose there?

We’ve just moved into a house with an old rose garden, it’s beautiful but the weeds are out of control. We’ve also just changed the carpet, removing an old woollen carpet. Can we use the old carpet as weed matting in the rose garden??
