Is it OK to replant small rose plants from the garden to pots and if so, when and how. Many thanks in advance.

Hello there,
Do you by any chance have a rose called Chloé? Or is there a rose called Chloé?

1)My rose plant has just started growing leaves (perhaps a few weeks now), but now they’re already riddled with ?orange rust?…seeing orange spots on the leaves as it was before having been pruned. Does that immediately happen? I feel sorry for the young leaves being attacked by this. What could I have done or what can I do to stop this escalating?

2) My gardenia plant has always been coated with black soot both on leaves and stems. Since then it has remained small, leaves are small and yellowed (not a dark green colour) and has not flowered since then. What can I do? I’ve been trying to wash it off with water spray and even bought neem oil (but had not been very regular using it 🙂 ). Still the black soot is present. What more can I do?

I’m going to be planting a rose garden this weekend with 8 Roses that were given to me when my mum (Rose) passed away. I would like any hints that will help them do well. I will raise the bed about 300ml high and have a couple of if bags of Rose soil to mix with ordinary topsoil. I was wondering if I should companion plant around them ?
Many Thanks
Jillian

I have about 80 odd roses on my life style block which I have been tending too. The other week the neighbour that leases some of our land applied some fertilisers by helicopter which included quite a lot of sulphur. They flew quite close to the house and now my roses are looking like they are dying? They all had lovely new growth and now that has all yellowed and drooping. Could this have affected them?

18 months ago I took a cutting from an old rambling rose growing on an old fence roadside Browns Bay. Planted it against a fene in my new garden in Tauranga. It has grown rampantly with branches & leaves but no sign of any gorgeous pink roses so far. Will it flower eventaully? Should I give it Rose Manure? Should I prune some branches off? Thanks for any help.

Is it correct that at this time of the year if you don’t dead head roses and leave them to form rose hips does the bush then go into hibernation, so that it thinks growing time is over and will put the effort into the plant and produce more after prunning time in July for the next season.

I have an iceberg rose in a large patio pot on a deck which was given to me for Xmas 2 years ago. it has flowered profusely during that time, however this year the flowers are coming out mostly pink with a little white and don’t look that healthy. Do I need to repot? It is well loved and cared for.

With all this rain in Auckland I have put off spraying copper on the roses, should I just do it or wait for a sunny forecast for longer than one day?

Yesterday I met a lady who had a two year old rose plant which was fabulous. She told me two years ago it was one of Palmers Remuera’s best three roses but she couldn’t remember the name. It was a light purple colour with yellow centre, and very fragrant. In two years it had grown considerably. Can you help with the name please.
