What is the best time to repot my roses in containers?

Is it correct that at this time of the year if you don’t dead head roses and leave them to form rose hips does the bush then go into hibernation, so that it thinks growing time is over and will put the effort into the plant and produce more after prunning time in July for the next season.

I have an iceberg rose in a large patio pot on a deck which was given to me for Xmas 2 years ago. it has flowered profusely during that time, however this year the flowers are coming out mostly pink with a little white and don’t look that healthy. Do I need to repot? It is well loved and cared for.

I have 3 really old roses that have continuous blackspot, rust etc. no matter how much i spray its always there. is it possible to prune the roses right back to the main stem (the woody part) and start all over again, or will this effect the plant and stress is it out and kill it off?

We’ve just moved into a house with an old rose garden, it’s beautiful but the weeds are out of control. We’ve also just changed the carpet, removing an old woollen carpet. Can we use the old carpet as weed matting in the rose garden??

I know how to prune bush roses buy pruning to an outside bud and removing any branches crossing the centre of the bush, to keep the bush open. However when it comes to climbing roses I am stuck as to how you get lovely flowering long trailing branches and the pruning of them so as not to shorten these branches. Can you help me please as I am pruning at the moment ?

We have three Absolutely Fabulous standard roses planted a few months ago in the spring and doing marvellously well. Today we came home to find the lawn-mowing people had ring-barked all three. Is there anything we can do to increase their chances of survival (other than getting rid of the lawnmowers, of course?

Hi
I am trying to cover an ugly fence with some climbing roses. The problem is that we experienced a lot of westerly winds and I need something that can successfully deal with these winds as well as climb. Can you give me some recommendations for roses that can climb and are wind hardy.

Many thanks
Nicola

I have about 80 odd roses on my life style block which I have been tending too. The other week the neighbour that leases some of our land applied some fertilisers by helicopter which included quite a lot of sulphur. They flew quite close to the house and now my roses are looking like they are dying? They all had lovely new growth and now that has all yellowed and drooping. Could this have affected them?

My standard roses “Sir Tristram” suffers from extreme rust and black spot. I spray each 10 days with Bravo but this does not contain the problem. Please advise of the best brand of spray for this disease.

With all this rain in Auckland I have put off spraying copper on the roses, should I just do it or wait for a sunny forecast for longer than one day?
