I have 2 campari tomato plants which I have planted into huge containers that sit on limestone chip, will this be ok? Do I take out the little shoots that appear at the bottom of the leaf by the stem. I am a newbie gardener, so any help on how to grow these appreciated.

Hello,

I am wondering do you have Asparagus spears for planting a new patch in the garden? We have a Tractor tyre that we want to start planting Asparagus in.

I’m not sure how much lime to use on my vegetable garden and if the use of lime is detrimental to any of the vegetable variety.
I would appreciate youe advice. -Regards Patrick

I recently dug up a crop of potatoes which I had grown in containers and although healthy spuds, there were not many of them. Any answers as to why this could have been. Do I need to fertilize etc.

Hi, I am a school teacher. I have a vegetable plot available for me and my class to use 300cm x 135cm.

I asked the class what they wanted to grow and they decided on the following groupings:
1. potatoes
2. onions & garlic
3. lettuce & rhubarb
4. herbs, ginger, chilli & perilla
5. grapes
6. gooseberries (not sure what they are but the kids are adamant at growing them?)
7. brusselsprouts and broccoli

I personally want to try growing some soy beans (edamame).

My question is …

Realistically speaking, is it possible to have such a variety in the garden? It’s a huge space – but I’m not a gardner, and I’ve done some research with the kids to identify some problems, like: ginger needs to grow in a pot away from other plants because it ‘goes all over the place’ according to one kid.

Second question: does Palmers stock these plants/crops to grow? I know some are common, but I’m not sure about grapes and perilla, gooseberries etc.

Cheers

Could you please tell me what you would recommend I spray the plants in my glasshouse with, they are getting covered in tiny white fly. Initially I sprayed with a baking soda recipe, but that didn’t look at it, then I tried a bought spray that had white fly on the label. This hasn’t worked either. I am growing tomatoes, capsicums and have just pulled out the cucumbers. The tomatoes are the worst plants infested with this little blighter but the fruit aren’t affected at all – the plants are pumping out tomatoes. Thanks for your help.
