When I bought my house a year ago it had a nicely trimmed bamboo hedge that does a terrific job at sheltering the house from the prevailing wind. I’ve let it grow a little more “fluffy” but would welcome some advice on how to keep it tidy, and not become rampant. How many times a year should I trim it and how closely?

Hi Pam, Trimming should be done just as new growth gets going (Spring and Autumn) and obviously remove shoots that are coming up too far away from the hedge. Sometimes selectively removing old growth is required (to allow space for new growth). Thanks the Palmers Team
