When and how to deadhead Bird of Paradise

Hi Ripeka,
You can deadhead the spent blooms of your Bird of Paradise as needed. If they start to lose colour, turn brown and are simply done flowering then deadheading your plant will be more pleasing to you and may encourage new blooms to appear. It can also help make sure your plant has less chance of developing pests and diseases.
Use sharp pruning shears or secateurs, cut the flowers off at the base and then cut the stalks off as close to the base as you can.
