Hi, I bought bulb fertiliser only to find when I got home that the packet says not suitable for bulbs in pots. Why would this be the case, and what should I use for bulbs in pots. Thanks.

Hi Sonja, the powder bulb fertiliser tends to release fertiliser in a large quantity very quickly and with most potting mixes having a poor water holding capability it can wash out very quickly, also it has a tendency to burn the new fresh roots of the bulbs due to it’s quick release. You would be better of purchasing a slow release fertiliser like Osmocote for pots for your bulbs. Thanks, the Palmers team
