Hi,
I am wondering what the best type of Camelia would survive in a coastal climate in the Bay of Plenty. It will be planted in a property that may not get regular watering as it is to be rented out and the purpose is for hedging against a fence in some areas and at the front of the house just the hedge no fence next to it. I want a small white camelia flower but unsure which type would be best, I am looking at the Sasanqua at the moment.
Your advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lee

Hi Lee, camellia would not be the first line of preferred planting in coastal areas, as any salt spray will damage the growth, especially new growth, if you are keen on giving on a go we would recommend Setsugekka. This variety flowers easily and regrows rapidly (and is a Sasanqua variety). Thanks, the Palmers team
