Re. your recent email – it says to fill the pots with a good quality potting mix and then says to choose a substrate that holds moisture and drains well. Does that mean to add a layer over the potting mix or is it still referring to the potting mix itself?

Hi Carol,

Sorry for the confusion. That particular sentence is referring to the potting mix you choose to fill your pot up with. Most good quality potting mixes will be made up of substrate that holds moisture but also has good drainage properties. If you stick to a store bought potting mix that should tick the boxes for you. I would also recommend adding a layer of mulch as this can help hold moisture in, as containers do dry out much faster than the ground.

All the best, I hope you have some nice caulies coming your way!
