It is not normally needed to prune Daphne annually, however if it has got a bit leggy or out of shape you can give it a light prune.
I would recommend waiting to the Daphne has finished its flowering and the weather is a bit warmer. This will help eliminate fungal diseases and you will not interfere with any flowering for the following season.
Remove any dead, dying or damaged branches and then lightly tip prune over the shrub bringing it all back in shape, remove no more then a third of the plant.
