We have some strawberries growing in a strawberry pot, most are green and some are just flowering. Thinking I am being clever, I got a mesh pop up toy box and put it over the pot to stop the birds getting to the berries. But now having a thought….don’t the bees need to pollinate the flowers for us to get more berries….? So when is the right time to cover the berries to stop the birds….?

I’d cover them just as they are about to colour up – before they are too large and the birds spot them.
