Hi
I have just come back from holidays to find some black insects on my shallots. Is there something I can spray on them to kill them without affecting the shallots? – so I can still eat them?
I have photos if that helps
Cheers

Hi Liz, It is possibly aphids which are sucking the sap, but a few of the insects taken into the nearest store would confirm that. There are a number of products available that are suitable for spraying on vegetables. The shallots will be fine to eat once any withholding period on the label has passed, but would recommend giving them a good wash first.
