Hi Michael, Gooseberry fruit predominantly on spurs from old wood and on the base of last years wood. The first check is are you pruning? And is so is this done correctly. The only other possibility is that you are feeding the plant with lots of organic material, creating lots of green growth. Using a balanced fertiliser or creating a healthy soil structure (mulch and organic fertiliser (different than organic matter)).

Thanks the Palmers Team
