Hi Steve,

Grapes need full sun, if they do not receive enough sunlight this can inhibit the growth of buds on the plant. They are also very hungry plants so having plenty of compost and organic matter in the soil will be beneficial to fruiting. You can also fertilise the vines in the growing season, using something such as Novatec Premium.

Making sure the grapes get plenty of water will also be a key to getting good fruit. Mulching can help.

Incorrect pruning practices can also be detrimental to the vines fruiting. I have left a link for you to look at for grape care.
