Having been given some iris bulbs I wondered if I could start them growing now (March) in pots then transplant them into the garden at a later date…and what type of ground do iris plants need?

Iris’s like to have / can tolerate damp soil. It is fine to transplant them into pots now, and then the garden later on. Just be careful to minimise the root disturbance when you do plant them out.
