We have cut off arms growing on a cactus what is the best way to grow these to new cactus?

Cuttings are best taken in the growing season, and then allowing the cut to dry (maybe a week or two depending on the size of the open wound), and then putting the cutting on the surface of a very gritty mix or even just stone grit. Watering should be only enough to keep the soil/grit slightly moist until roots have formed and the plant can be potted up normally.
