I have 2 types of pumpkin. A normal buttercup variety and a gourmet smaller pumpkin my Grandma gave me (sorry we don’t know the name of it). When do I know they’re ready to pick? Especially the gourmet one which is meant to produce smaller pumpkins.

Pumpkins are harvested as the vines shrivel and die. If you harvest them too soon, the immature fruit is insipid and will rot. Also, when they are mature the pumpkin will snap off easily from the plant. Remember not to remove the stalk.
