My Kowhais especially the Golden Dragon variety are being denuded of leaves although flowering profusely. I suspected the kowahai moth but can’t see any caterpillars on them, ideas what could cause this and remedy??

Hi Dorothy, Possibly two things, like you say most likely the moth, but as the damage is done, they are most likely long gone (no food source no caterpillar), secondly sometimes they will drop most of the foliage just prior to flowering, especially if there has been a stress issue (ie heavy rain, sudden change of temperature etc.) They normally will come straight back into foliage after flowering, I would do nothing unless you see evidence of caterpillars.
Thanks the Palmers Team
