I am wanting to make a whole new lawn as for sometime it is just all buttercups, dandelion, paspalum,, clover & broad leaf. Hardly any grass. Have been reading your page about making new lawn, but nowhere tells me what to do about the birds eTing lawn seed. We have heaps of birds in my area. Please let me know how to stop them when we sow the seeds?

Hi Maureen, Most seeds are coated in bird a bird repellent, so they might pick the seed up, but then spit this out. When doing a new lawn seed should be covered by approx. 1cm of soil so any seed that birds do pick up should have a bearing on the result. We suggest you wait until March -April before sowing a lawn as the lawn seed will germinate quicker and once again less chance for a bird the eat the seeds.
Thanks the Palmers Team
