Kia Ora After Lillie’s have browned off do I lift them dry them and store them to re plant oct this year or just leave them in the grounds. Nga mihi thank you Charles rotorua

Hi Charles,

Lily’s can be left in the ground before lifting for a couple of years, so you can most definitely leave them in the ground. The clumps of lilies will increase and you will get more blooms. Put down a layer of mulch for extra protection.

If you do want to lift them though, by all means lift them. Dig them out gently, clean them and store them in a cool, dry place where there is lots of airflow. Plant out again in late winter.
